Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood - The Animals

“You’ll be better by far to be just what you are. You can be what you want if you are what you are.”

Speaking of The Animals, I’ve been thinking about the O Lucky Man! soundtrack a lot lately, which happens to also be one of my favourite movies. The soundtrack was written by Alan Price — that’s his organ solo on The AnimalsHouse Of The Rising Sun you know — and serves as something of a greek chorus throughout the film. They even cut to the band jamming out the songs with director Lindsay Anderson in a smokey room within the movie. Here’s the opening number that sets the tone and themes of the film: “O Lucky Man”. If you haven’t seen the movie, this is one you should be seeking out.
